Here’s a link to get  The Starving Artist’s Guide to New York City on your iPad!

hope you enjoy it!

** This is an excerpt from The Urban Survival Guide, the most recent update to The Starving Artist’s Guide to New York City. It’s available as a free download here (also, it’s cooler looking than plain text), or for $7 as a paperback here.

A Re-introduction to The Starving Artist’s Guide

It’s happening all around us. The world seems to be
spinning out of control. Tsunamis, hurricanes, blizzards,
earthquakes. Why does mother nature seem so pissed off these
days? What happened to our sense of connection to nature? Why
is it that so many people seem so unhappy? Can we stand up and
change our society? How can we prepare for the worst while not
giving up our sense of well being?

I won’t answer all of these cinder block-shaped questions
in the short time I have in this (mini?)book. This is not a guide on outdoor survival. If you want one of those, pick up a copy of The Armed Forces Survival Manual. It has all the information a layman needs to survive in harsh, outdoor conditions. Or catch up on some Man vs. Wild or, my favorite, SurvivorMan (both available on Netflix.)

On the contrary, this book is for the young soul who
moves to New York City or another creativity-driven city in the hopes that they will make something of themselves in the world of art, music, comedy, film etc. Having lived here for over four years, I know a few of the pitfalls along the strange journey that NYC has to offer.

This is only an addendum. Pick up a copy of the first
edition to see a ton of other advice that I’m not going to repeat in this document. It’s got everything you’ll ever need, and then you can move up to speed by reading this here thing in front of you.

Hey folks,

Today marks the birth of my new website, sublimeminds.com, an umbrella site for the Starving Artist’s Guide. On the new site, I’ll do artist interviews, book reviews, album reviews and eventually begin releasing books and albums under the Sublime Minds Press Label. I’ll also ask outside writers to do pieces for the blog to get a broader scope of the world today My goal is to lead a conversation about deepening our consciousness and motivate our audience (including you!) to become vocal about your own ideas in a constructive, innovative manner. I also want to throw big parties every time we release anything from Sublime Minds.
So if you feel like you are a good fit for being featured on Sublime Minds, contact me at sublimemindspress@gmail.com.
I want to push the envelope. To begin, I started with a pretty crazy story that you had to see to believe…Thank god for cellphone cameras! These pictures were not doctored in ANY way, shape, or form. Check out the story here!

First off, thanks for everyone who purchased a copy of the new edition of the SAG! The proceeds are all going to the Red Cross for tsunami relief in Japan. I’ve decided to release the downloadable pdf for free from here on out in an effort to spread the information in this helpful little guide. Here’s the link to download it. As a bonus, any print copies bought will continue to have proceeds go to tsunami relief.
I’ve had the week off, and I’m fully rested up. It never fails to amaze me how lucky I am to have a foot in the woods and a foot in the city. I got to play a show at the PATH Cafe last Saturday night, and it was a pretty awesome experience as Thor reigned thunder and lightning down upon us as we comfortably sipped coffee and tea in such a warm little place. I didn’t manage to get a mp3 of the show, but I plan on recording some new songs relatively soon.
While visiting my parents, I managed to go to Better Bee in order to get a hive of honey bees started this summer. Very exciting indeed! I also managed to bring down some raspberry branches back to Brooklyn to enjoy. Exciting indeed!
A bigger update is in the works, but I hope everyone is finally out and enjoying this beautiful weather!
